Grey, White, and Black passwords
In the GreyPass lexicon — shared with this school — passwords sit on a spectrum of light:
- White — already in cracked lists (
123456,password). Machines guess them instantly. - Black — pure high-entropy randomness. Strong, but humans cannot memorize them without a vault.
- Grey — memorable structure with enough entropy to resist online guessing. The sweet spot between Elvish verse and Mordor noise.
“Brightness” rises when a grey password is reused often enough to drift toward white. Prefer unique greys, or black keys stored offline / in a vault such as VIP.passkey.vip.
Practice: invent a grey passphrase from unrelated words + a personal twist, never reused across banks and email.
